R&S Grating's history is steeped in grates of all varieties. Today our range has developed to include a wide variety of grates, suited to every possible application, from pedestrian applications to high volume traffic freeway applications.

Grates can be classed into two main groups, SUMP GRATES and TRENCH GRATES, each with their own applications and a variety of styles available.

Sump grates are used to cover storm water pits. Storm water pits are typically square or rectangular in shape.

Trench grates are designed to catch large amounts of water that are flowing in their catchment area.

Tree grates are used to integrate trees into hardened landscapes, minimising the risks to pedestrians from open and uneven soiled areas.

R&S Grating also provide multi-part access covers to cover any size pit. Please ring with internal pit dimensions for a quote. All access covers can also be bolted down. Please specify bolt down for security or pressure.

R&S Grating stock a range of fibre glass covers, designed to cover side entry and junction pits. Our FRP Ecolite range is rated to Class B of AS3996 - 2006, designed for a maximum 8000 kg loading. Through consultation with local governments and industry, our FRP Ecolite range has been developed to include a hinging and lock down mechanism, securing the insert to the frame.

The innovative design has also resulted in a reduced lifting force, requiring a maximum of 15kg of exertion to open, once installed. Additionally, the FRP Ecolite range can be unlocked using standard AS3996 - 2006 lifting keys.

Kerb Adaptors

Kerb adaptors are designed to facilitate the flow of stormwater through kerbing and into a channel. Traditional methods of achieving this often involved casting PVC pipes into kerbing, severely weaking the concrete kerbing.

Pipe Adapters ( Flowcon Conconect)

Conconect simplifies connecting PVC pipes to concrete pipes, tanks and pits. Eliminating the need for mortar and sealing compounds, Conconect facilitates fast connections with minimal labour. Furthermore, Conconect fully seals the connection, eliminating the risk of backfill entering the receiving pipe and the risk of blockages.

Heavy duty access covers are rated to Class D of AS3996 - 2006 and are ideal for carriageways and main roads, accessible by commercial vehicles. The nominal wheel loading on installed heavy duty access covers is 8000 kg, while the maximum recommended load is 21000 kg.

Access covers are filled with concrete during installation, which can match the surrounding surface, leaving only the ribs of the access cover and the frame showing. In the event that the access cover is being installed in an area with paving or tiles, or being used as an internal grease trap, consider looking at Riser Access Covers.
