The Wickepin Districts Road Board was formed in 1909 and was located "on the other side of the railway line" now housing the art and craft group. The Board consisted of a chairman, secretary and seven members. In 1961 the Wickepin Road Board became the Wickepin Shire Council and in 1963
relocated to their newly constructed premises joined to the front of the town hall consisting of an office, boardroom and a small "3% room".
It was in the early 70's the then Minister for Local Government advised council that their office premises were 'unsuitable'.
Economic Development
Council's administrative staff commence budget preparation in April of each year. If you feel there is something needed to be budgeted for your submission will need to be received in order to go to the June council meeting.
Each year all sporting/community groups are invited to submit funding applications to assist with much needed projects, services or activity for the community. Application forms will be sent to all clubs from council in February and these will need to be returned by the end of April for budget consideration.
